NORTH HANOVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Hanover Golf Club, home of New Jersey’s longest Par 5, The Monster, has announced a recreational stimulus package that provides golf enthusiasts with three ways to play for free in 2010.

Located just eight miles west of Great Adventure off of Exit 7A on the NJ Turnpike, Hanover Golf Club features generous fairways and sloping greens set among the rolling hills of Central New Jersey. Owned and operated by Matrix Golf and Hospitality, a division of Cranbury, N.J.-based Matrix Development Group, the 18-hole course features 6,700 yards from the back tee for a par of 71.

Golfers can enjoy a free round in 2010 in one of three ways, including signing up for the Hanover Golf Club. By submitting their name, email address and birth date, interested golfers will receive a free green fee for use on their birthday (some restrictions apply).

Additionally, interested parties can purchase a Hanover Loyalty Plan — a $252 value — for just $125. The package includes one free weekday round of golf with cart, as well as 15 percent discounts on golf throughout the year and a 10 percent discount on all pro shop merchandise and golf lessons. Golfers will also receive two complimentary golf clinics and a free USGA handicap.

Finally, Hanover Golf Club members can participate in the club’s daily “Closest to the Pin” content. Members will tee off at the club’s Par 3 holes and challenge other golfers to see who can land their ball closest to the pin. The winner will receive a free green fee.

All three of these opportunities for a free round of golf can be found at www.FreeGolf2010.com.

“Hanover Golf Club features an outstanding course at an affordable price and offers an ideal way to relax and enjoy the game of golf. The course features artistic landscaping, challenging bunkers and liberal use of water hazards, all contributing to a memorable and competitive round for all levels of play,” said Hanover Golf Club General Manager Christopher Brock. “Our FreeGolf2010.com billboard on the New Jersey Turnpike and the promotion are really getting people’s attention because they realize the tremendous values we offer at this course, which includes a back nine designed by Robert Trent Jones, one of the founding members of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, and one of the most celebrated course designers in the world. Who doesn’t like getting something for free?”

Nearly 45 years after it opened in 1965, the back nine at Hanover Golf Club, one of New Jersey’s finest daily fee courses, continues to treat players to the daring design that made Jones one of history’s foremost golf course architects. Throughout his career, Jones designed or redesigned approximately 500 golf courses in more than 40 states and 35 countries.  Some of his most noted course designs include Capilano in Vancouver, Banff in the Canadian Rockies and Peachtree in Atlanta, just to name a few.

Located in North Hanover Township at 133 Larrison Road, Hanover offers four sets of tees, accommodating both the beginning golfer as well as the single-digit handicap.
